  • Goal Statement: The goal statement should discuss your desire to study Sociology and explain which areas (theory, research methods, or substantive areas) you want to focus on in your studies. The document could also show how achieving an MA degree from the UCCS Sociology programs fits with your personal and professional goals. Also identify which faculty you would want to take courses from and explain why. (Click Department of Sociology Faculty and Staff for the list of faculty.) The document should have one inch margins, double spaced, 12 inch font and be at least two pages long. Make sure to include your name and the program you are applying to in your goal statement.
  • Writing Sample: can be a literature review, a research proposal, or a term paper of an undergraduate-level social science class or course in a related discipline. The writing sample should be in English. And this writing sample should be five to fifteen pages (double-spaced) long.

CU Anschutz and UCCS are academic partners within the CU System who provide a unified academic curriculum offered as a Residential Pathway in Aurora, CO or a Hybrid Pathway in Colorado Springs, CO. In collaboration with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Campus, the CU Physical Therapy Program offers a Hybrid Pathway.

The hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy pathway is designed to prepare graduates for successful careers as competent professionals in their field; utilizing a world-class physical therapy education with innovative teaching practices and practical experiences.

This program is designed to ensure that graduates meet national standards for competency and can earn certification in physical therapy.

  • b. Resources and Support: Specify the resources and supports that will help you successfully complete the MSW program. Please speak to your readiness to manage both the academic rigor of the program and the emotional challenges that can come with working with the intense life experiences of the people and communities served by social workers.

c. Positionality: At the core of the social work profession is a commitment to the empowerment of marginalized individuals and groups. Discuss your preparedness for working with socially and economically disadvantaged populations, explicitly addressing your understanding of and commitment to anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
